Podcasts

If your students are studying radio stations in Media Studies or perhaps producing a radio show, why not make it a regular show to a worldwide audience? A podcast is an audio file (usually an mp3) that has an RSS feed (like a blog). Listeners can subscribe to your show and will automatically receive new shows as soon as you put them online. Some television shows like Doctor Who have podcast commentaries where you can listen to the cast and producers discuss the making of the episode while you watch it.

Video Podcasts

A video version of a podcast, also known as a vodcast, is becoming popular. This allows people to easily share their video podcasts to a regular audience. These are popular with television producers promoting their shows

Microphone

To listen to some podcasts and watch some vodcasts that have already been made you could use iTunes, Odeo or go to Radio Waves to listen to what some schools are already producing. Some schools also run podcasts such as Sandaig Primary School, which has Radio Sandaig
