Teacher's Guidelines

This can either be done as an individual activity in a computer room, or as a class activity using a whiteboard and projector.

This is a good activity in searching using tags. You might need to prompt pupils into choosing appropriate words to use for searching. Many young pupils type in a sentence rather than keywords. Perhaps prompt them to think about which is the most important word to describe the image they want.

Instructions

Ask the class to choose a movie genre. They will then needs to go to Flickr and find a suitable image for their movie poster. For example, if they choose romantic comedy, they could search for an image of a couple arguing. If they choose horror they could search for an image of someone screaming, a vampire, or an old scary house.

At the bighugelabs website you will find a large selection of tools that use images from Flickr. Ask the class to try and make a movie poster for a made-up film using the movie poster tool and the image they have found at Flickr.
