Gone are the days where we would all huddle round the family TV together for the evening; nowadays we are more likely to huddle round a mobile phone to see the latest funny video emailed from you pal, or get together online to mount an attack on an enemy stronghold. We have a huge choice of ways to acquire and watch moving image entertainment, from watching the latest Blu-Ray movie release on your PS3 to seeing a short YouTube film your friend has made using the virtual world of Second Life.
In this section we will look at many of the different platforms where moving image can be seen, explore how they have been developed and used, and think about the beneficial and negative effects of the technologies.
Get your students logging and analysing who watches what and why. Log their own viewing habbits with our media diary activity. Then research how and where people are viewing moving images with the platforms survey
In particular we will look at the areas of cinema, television, internet, mobile phones and computer games as well as what happens when these areas converge together.
